Samy Belteton serves as the Director of the Microscooping Imaging Core Suite (MICS) at NMSU. MICS includes modern, digital imaging electron and scanning probe microscopes, a laser scanning confocal microscope and ancillary preparative equipment along with expert guidance and assistance with wide-ranging, multidisciplinary applications.

Carlos Cuesta serves as the Program Director for Studio G and the Nusenda Fintech Lab. Carlos is at the forefront of fostering entrepreneurial spirit and advancing technological solutions in the financial sector. He is a Finance professor on campus and an entrepreneurial advisor for students, with a master’s degree in business administration with a Finance concentration, along with bachelor’s degrees in finance and international business, all acquired from New Mexico State University.

Dr. Borys Drach is a professor and Director of the Quality Control in Additive Manufacturing (QCAM) Consortium and the Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Lab. His research interests include composite materials, computation solid mechanics, mechanics of materials, and micromechanics. The NDE lab houses an X-Ray CT system and aims to conduct meaningful research that contributes to the fields of materials science and engineering while playing a pivotal role in preparing the next generation of professionals. They strive to create opportunities for education and hands-on experience, not only for our students but also for our local community, aiming to inspire and engage future scientists and engineers.

Dr. Sara Fuentes-Soriano is a College Assistant Professor of Biology and New Mexico State University and Herbarium Director and Curator of the NMSU Biology Herbarium (NMC). Dr. Fuentes-Soriano seeks to understand the diversification and evolutionary innovations of flowering plants, related to their palynology, genomics, and ecology to address pressing questions related to the effect of climate change on plant morphological, molecular, and spatial distribution patterns.

Dr. Shelley Lusetti is the Director of the New Mexico IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (NM-INBRE) and serves as the Department Head of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department. Her broad research interest is to define the cellular processes underlying chromosomal maintenance by studying the enzymes and regulatory mechanisms that control it. The Lusetti Lab is specifically interested in the elucidation of the biochemical roles of novel enzymes involved in DNA damage response pathways. She focuses on several bacterial models, using comparative biochemistry to explain the differential DNA damage tolerance of multiple bacterial organisms

Dr. Lizely Madrigal is the Director for Instructional and Research Support for the High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster at NMSU. Dr. Madrigal has academic knowledge and actual work experience in evaluation design, qualitative and quantitative methods includiang descriptive and analytical statistics, educational research, policy analysis, student information systems, and data-driven decision making.

Dr. Jennifer Randall is a Professor within the Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology, and Weed Science at New Mexico State University and the current director of the Molecular Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Graduate Program. er interests and research program focuses on the genetics and molecular mechanisms of plant development, plant-microbe interactions, and understanding the plant ‘innate’ immune system. There are a number of current projects within her laboratory that are focused on pecan.

Dr. Simeon Schum is the director of the Chemical Analysis and Instrumentation Laboratory (CAIL). The CAIL hosts a wide variety of instrumentation to serve most analytical needs. His primary research interests lie in improving the analysis and evaluation of non-targeted high resolution mass spectrometry data including through instrumental method development and the development of open-source code tools.

Dr. Elba Serrano is Regents Professor of Biology at New Mexico State University and the lead NMSU investigator for the NSF Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) National STEM Resource Hub. A first generation-to-college student, Dr. Serrano earned her PhD in biology (neuroscience/biophysics) from Stanford University and her bachelor’s degree in physics with a chemistry minor from the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on development of the sensory systems for hearing and balance and on the role of neuroglia in maintenance of brain function. She will lead the workshop and panel talks.

Shasta Younker is a Program Specialist, Sr. for Studio G at Arrowhead Center. She has a Bachelor of Arts and Science with a Masters in Agricultural Business from NMSU. Over the past four years, she has worked with students interested in Entrepreneurship. She helps them connect with advisors and businesses with knowledge in the startup process, opening the line of communication, and bridging the gap between the workforce and business. Shasta strives to help students achieve their goals and see their projects come to life while assisting businesses all over New Mexico to enhance their programs.
